The City of Aarhus invests in welfare technology in all areas of the municipal service by a “Welfare Tech Applikation Fund”. The projects take place in a collaboration between the municipality and the business community.

The Fund has six million Danish kroner annually, which is used for pilot projects within welfare technology in Aarhus Municipality. The Fund can support projects with funding, financial advice and project management.

The target group for welfare technology is constantly expanding. We have primarily gained experience with welfare technology in the field of elderly and disability. But welfare technology is not only relevant when we are old or sick. The technology can advantageously be used by younger target groups. Then it comes more to the benefit and gives gains within several service areas in the municipality. For example, welfare technology can be used as a tool for learning and well-being for children, young people, and vulnerable groups in our society. Welfare technology is also smart solutions that can develop our city and how we use it.
